Emergency Preparedness Workshops

The Acción Climática Program offers three emergency preparedness workshops focused on the climate emergencies that are most common in Oregon: heatwaves, wildfires and smoke, and winter storms. All workshops are in Spanish, two sessions of two hours each (four hours total), and include a section on mental health.

The workshops include the causes of climate change, how the changing climate is impacting the environment we live in and contributing to extreme weather events. Participants will also learn about the health impacts of these extreme weather events and how to protect their health. The workshops offer resources to create emergency plans at home, connect to emergency alert systems, and an emergency preparedness kit delivered to their home.

The heatwaves workshop will be offered in the spring.
The wildfire and smoke workshop will be offered at the beginning of summer.
The winter storms workshop will be offered in the fall.

Clima, Salud, y Resiliencia

Clima, Salud y Resiliencia is a culturally appropriate training that uses methods and practices from popular education and adult learning theories. The curriculum covers themes and topics that reflect Familias en Acción’s desire to support family health, resilience and emotional well-being, Latiné environmentalism, food equity and sustainability, as well as encourage advocacy, community engagement and climate preparedness.

This 20-hour training is intended for community health workers, both certified and not certified. It is hosted in person over four days and entirely in Spanish. Together, we learn about climate change, its impact on health, an introduction to emergency preparedness planning, policy and advocacy, personal action steps, and so much more!

This training offers up to 20 hours of CEUs, for FREE.
