Our Work

Familias en Acción (Familias) was founded in 1998 in response to the need for a culturally specific organization to promote health and wellness for Latiné families in Oregon. Our programs are dedicated to reducing the exclusion of underrepresented and marginalized Latiné communities from economic, health, and social equity.

We primarily serve monolingual, Spanish-speaking Latiné families in Oregon. Our services are culturally responsive and are delivered through bilingual, bicultural staff.

Through our programs, we provide healthcare and resource navigation, health education and promotion, and workforce development support to Promotores de Salud/Community Health Workers (CHWs).

Our Values

Values

We lead our work with honesty, open communication, and are grounded in a foundation of trust. We acknowledge our strengths as well as areas for growth. We are willing to have difficult conversations and actively listen to understand.

We care for the people we serve, one another, and ourselves with kindness and empathy. We share in our lived experiences and respect individual needs. We invite everyone to show up as they are.

We strive to recognize, value, and learn from our diverse and complex identities, cultures and languages. We challenge dominant ways of being. We create welcoming, accessible and safe environments.

We engage without judgment and honor our individual and collective wisdom, culture, and beliefs. We foster continued learning and self-awareness.

We celebrate the strength, joy and power that comes from the Latiné culture. We engage by and for community; we are not separate from community.
